The ProloGraft® Procedure: A Revolutionary Approach to Pain Relief and Recovery

Understanding the Difference Between ProloGraft® and Standard Injection Protocols

At the Osteopathic Center clinic, we understand how chronic pain and limited mobility can significantly impact your quality of life. Dr. Goddard has developed the innovative ProloGraft® procedure to help you achieve a pain-free and active life. This page will guide you through the key differences between the ProloGraft® procedure and standard injection protocols, helping you make an informed decision about your treatment options.

What is the ProloGraft® Procedure?

The ProloGraft® procedure is a unique, patented treatment developed by Dr. Goddard after years of training, experience, and research. It combines advanced biomechanics, injection techniques, and precise volumes of high-quality biologics to strengthen and restore injured ligaments, tendons, and muscles. Think of it as a “MAP”—a guide to recovery that improves MOBILITY, increases ACTIVITY, and reduces PAIN.

ProloGraft® Key Points

Understanding the mechanics of the human body is essential. Dr. G’s extensive knowledge of biomechanics allows for an in-depth analysis of how muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments interact. By optimizing these interactions, significant improvements in patient mobility can be achieved. While many providers can inject joints and trigger points on a surface level, this foundational understanding sets ProloGraft® apart.

Precision is crucial in any medical treatment. Over the years, Dr. G has honed his injection skills to ensure that therapeutic agents are delivered exactly where they are needed most, using ultrasound guidance and palpation. Unlike many injections that are administered superficially into trigger points or with only one injection into the joint, the ProloGraft® procedure involves injecting all supporting structures of the joint and the joint itself, targeting injuries, and going deep to the bone. This comprehensive approach maximizes the effectiveness of the treatment by addressing both the joint and its supporting structures, preventing reinjury and worsening of the condition.

The use of a precise volume of high-quality biologics is what truly sets the ProloGraft® procedure apart. Each injury requires a different volume of injectables and in some cases a mixture of a few to resolve stubborn injuries. Incorporating advanced biological treatments to stimulate healing and tissue regeneration, Dr. G often mixes and matches treatments to accommodate a patient’s budget while still achieving the desired results. Here are the main injectables used in the ProloGraft® procedure:

  • Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
  • Bone Marrow Aspirate
  • Adipose Tissue Grafts (Patient or Donor-Derived)
  • Tissue Allografts (Cryopreserved Donor-Derived)
  • Growth Factors (Cryopreserved Donor-Derived)

Key Differences: ProloGraft® vs. Standard Injection Protocols

ProloGraft® ProcedureStandard Injection Protocols
Biomechanics
  • In-depth knowledge of anatomy (muscles, bones, tendons, and ligaments).
  • Optimizes these interactions for better mobility.
  • Comprehensive Injections
  • Basic understanding of joint and trigger point injections.
  • Limited improvements in mobility.
  • Focused Injections on surface-level
Injection Skills
  • Uses ultrasound guidance and palpation for precise injection
  • Injects all supporting structures and the joint itself, reaching deep to the bone
  • Up to 20 injections per body part
  • Reduces the risk of reinjury.
  • Typically involves superficial injections
  • Often limited to a single U/S guided joint injection
  • 1-3 injections per body part
  • Less effective in preventing reinjury.
Injectables
  • Utilizes high-quality biologics, which promote healing
  • Uses a variety of injectables, including PRP, bone marrow and adipose tissue grafts, tissue allografts, and growth factors.
  • Customizes volume of injectable for each injury
  • Customizes treatments based on patient needs and budget.
  • Limited variety and quality of injectables.
  • Uses steroids, HA or basic biologics, generally less advanced.
  • Uses the same volume of injectable for any injury
  • Less flexibility in treatment customization.

The Importance of Stability in Treating Stubborn Injuries

The ProloGraft® procedure effectively treats stubborn injuries such as muscle atrophy, severe arthritis, labrum tears, and radiating back and neck pain. These conditions often result from instability and weakened supporting structures around joints, leading to chronic pain and other complications.

Instabilities caused by injured tissue or wear and tear prompt the body to protect the joint by tightening surrounding structures into a spasm. This results in pain, nerve pressure, and, if left unaddressed, long-term problems like bulging discs and compensatory patterns, causing further injuries due to altered posture or mobility.

The body operates as a connected system. Addressing only the joints or performing spot treatments fails to eliminate the root cause of pain. The ProloGraft® procedure targets all supporting structures of the joint, ensuring comprehensive treatment, preventing reinjury, and promoting long-term recovery.

Why Choose ProloGraft®?

The ProloGraft® procedure maps out a path to recovery that improves mobility, increases activity, and reduces pain. Dr. G’s innovative approach ensures that you receive a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, helping you return to your daily activities without discomfort.
